NVL SUSSEX Dolphin Ladies win out in first matches of Season

Match 1 vs Brentwood Ladies 2.
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Brentwood Ladies 2 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-12)
The first game of this newly formed side gave the team a chance to find their feet together. Brentwood Ladies 2, having lost their first match to Ashcombe that day, did not get into the game with some strong play and serving by the Sussex team. In the end Sussex won through comfortably with some excellent individual performances, marred only in the second set by a lapse of concentration that allowed Brentwood to creep back. However Sussex showed their dominance and swiftly finished the game.

Match 2 vs Ashcombe
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Ashcombe 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22)
Nerves were high for this important game with two of the Sussex players being ex-Ashcombe. Sussex Dolphins wanting to make their mark on the NVL this season were keen to win this match. Again, for a newly formed side they played well as a unit and scrapped for every ball. The passion and desire to win was high and all team members gave 110%. A closely contested match saw Sussex take the first set but go 19-9 down in the second. It was a sign of their determination that they scrabbled back every point, with some excellent serving and play by setter Soo-Bee Appleton, sadly to lose the second set 25-23. The next two sets were well fought with some strong hitting from Vicky Sarsfield and Becky Giddings with Sussex Dolphins finally taking both sets.
