Match 1 vs Team Southampton
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Team Southampton: 3-2 (0-25, 0-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-10)
Sussex started in a difficult situation defaulting the first two sets. This gave Sussex a mountain to climb. However Sussex came out fighting but struggled in the early part of the set under the pressure. At 14-15 it was nip and tuck between the two sides before Sussex began to stretch away with some good serving by Caroline Parisy. Again Sussex started slowly gained momentum and we're soon 20-16 up. Sussex relaxed back and Southampton crept back in but Sussex followed through to take the game to a fifth set decider. Sussex were quick out of the blocks in the fifth set and we're soon 7-4 up. After this Sussex and Southampton traded point for point but Southampton could not make up the deficit and lost the final set 15-10.

Match 2 vs Dulwich Knights
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Dulwich Knights: 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19)
Sussex were knocked by an early injury to Vicky Sarsfield in set 1 and with no other substitutes were faced with a tough match against Dulwich. The first set was evenly matched until Caroline delivered a seven point serving run and some good rallies from the Sussex side supported this. Sussex pushed on through to take the first set. Nerves got the better of Sussex in set 2 and some poor passing meant Sussex never really got an attack up with attacking plays not finding the court. Sussex going down 20-25. Sussex re-focused for set 3 and some strong serving from Sally Cook left Dulwich reeling at 16-10 down. Sussex kept the focus and some good blocking shut out the Dulwich attack and allowed Sussex to take the set. A confident Sussex went out in set four and with some good team play and passing dominated the set to take the win 3 set to 1.
