Match 1 vs Dartford
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Dartford 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-13, 27-25)
Sussex went into the first match of the day confident of a victory after their 3-0 defeat of Dartford earlier in the season but soon found themselves 13-8 down. The Dolphin side did not gel until late in the first set but at 20-13 down left themselves too much to do losing the set 25-18. Dolphins switched on in set 2 but were point for point with Dartford until a seven point serving run by Tracy Bateman gave them a comfortable cushion. Dolphins never looked back and finished the set 25-20. Into set three and a buoyant Sussex dominated the set with strong net play by Sophie Fletcher and Soo-Bee Appleton and another seven point serving run from player of the match, Tracy Bateman. Dartford, however, were not prepared to go down without a fight and came out strongly in set 4 and Sussex trailed by two points for most of the set. At 22-24 down it looked as though Sussex had let the set slip away from them but some good distribution and clever play by setters Joey Phillippo-Nevill and Soo-Bee Appleton allowed Sussex to fight back to eventually take the set and the match 27-25.

Match 2 vs Solent
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Solent 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23)
After the home defeat to third place Solent earlier in the season Sussex wanted to show their metal. Sussex started well and were soon 8-2 up. Despite some lapses of concentration allowing Solent to creep back Sussex took the first set 25-18. Set two and Sussex, once again, stormed to a 18-10 lead with some strong serving and hitting by Vicky Sarsfield. However Sussex switched off and Solent crept back but with the cushion of points that Sussex had gained the set result was inevitable. Set three and Sussex started slowly with some errors creeping in to their game. They were soon 11-5 down and thoughts of a fourth set were looming. However Sussex dug deep and some good team work saw them draw level. From there, back in contention, Sussex pushed through to take the set 25-23.
