Match 1 vs Cambridge 3.
Result: Sussex Dolphins lost to Cambridge 3: 2-3 (27-29, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 16-18)
Sussex had a repeat of the match score versus Cambridge 3 after their away match against them at the start of the season. Sussex played in patches with poor serving being the main cause for the set losses.
Some consistent serving by Gary Hill and Matt Rogers in the second set saw Sussex take the set comfortably but then a lack of focus allowed Cambridge to take the third. Sussex revved up again to take the fourth but some slow reactions in the fifth allowed Cambridge to draw level at 7-7 all in the fifth, Sussex letting their 6-3 lead slip. After this the teams were point to point in an exciting final set that saw Cambridge edge Sussex out.

Match 2 vs vs Brentwood Partners
Result: Sussex Dolphins beat Brentwwod Partners: 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 27-25)
In a reversal of fortunes. Sussex came out firing on all cylinders for their clash with top of the table Brentwood whom have only dropped one match all season. Sussex experience showed through as hitters varied their attacking shots, with some clever play by Marian Jura and Stefan Nordt, leaving the younger Brentwood team struggling to keep up. Some outstanding blocking shut out the solid Brentwood hitters and Sussex had complete control of the game. A performance like this shows the capability of this team in it's first season and hopefully Sussex can now capitalise on this for the remaining matches.
